wellness

  • educational sessions & workshops:

    • great for company retreats or wellness days!

  • individual wellness/fitness assessment & goal setting (think of this as “the PT physical”)

Read about the differences between “physical therapy services” and “wellness services”:

  • if you have an active injury that is limiting your function (i.e., a sprained ankle prevents you from running & impacts your ability to go up/down stairs), that qualifies as a physical therapy case.

    • you will be provided with an itemized receipt for each visit, which includes diagnosis codes and all billing/charges. you will also be provided with a “good faith estimate” as an estimated total cost of care for this episode.

    • this is limited to 30 calendar days or 10 visits (whichever comes first), per NYS Direct Access law; however, if you have a referral from a qualified provider (MD, DO, PA, NP, podiatrist), you no longer fall under Direct Access and can be seen by a physical therapist for whatever duration and/or number of visits is deemed necessary and feasible by you and your PT.

  • if you have ongoing minor niggles that don’t limit your function (i.e., a tight sensation in your hip that you feel at times, but are still generally able to complete all activities & exercise), that qualifies as wellness. if you are looking to improve your technique, training capacity, or overall health and/or performance, this is also wellness.

    • this is typically not reimbursable by insurance carriers. as such, you will not be provided with an itemized receipt and/or diagnosis codes, as there is no specific injury.

Why private pay?

The private pay, or cash-based, model of physical therapy, and healthcare in general, allows us to work together to ensure you achieve your goals without the constraints of an insurance company. Many times, this model does actually SAVE you money despite a higher upfront cost, as you are receiving higher quality care and have fewer visits overall.

If you are covered by a Medicare, Medicaid, Workers’ Compensation or No Fault plan, you are not eligible for the services offered at Immersion PT. I apologize for any inconvenience and would be happy to direct you to a trusted colleague who can better meet your needs!

RESTORE

bone injury program

RESTORE ~ bone injury program ~

were you recently diagnosed with a bone stress injury — more familiarly known as a stress fracture or stress reaction? these can be devastating injuries to an athlete, but they can also be an opportunity to regroup, reassess and restore balance so that you can get back to doing what you love!

often when an athlete is diagnosed with a stress fracture, they are told to rest for 6 weeks then gradually return to their sport. as a physical therapist (and someone who’s been through a couple bone injuries!), this lacks any concrete guidance for what someone can do while the injury is still healing and the return to sport process. resting alone, in many cases, is like leaving a few doors unopened and setting the stage for a subsequent injury! (and let me tell you: in my 10 years of professional experience, “gradual return” means something different to everyone, and it’s usually not actually gradual!)

the RESTORE bone injury program seeks to bridge this gap in our healthcare system. upon your diagnosis, you will meet with your PT (me!) to set up a treatment plan for things you can safely do during the initial phases of recovery. then we will meet 3 more times as your injury progresses along the healing continuum, to gradually prepare you for your return to sport. finally, when you are cleared for full activity, we will have one more session together and you will actually be ready to go and confident in your ability to get back out there. from there, we will continue to progress via coaching for the next 3 months so you don’t go overboard and wind up with another injury!

Complete your intake paperwork today to get started!
